About Artist Andy Devane
  1. Born in Ireland, Andy Devane studied painting at Limerick School of Art and Design. Since moving to Italy in 2000 the principal subject of his paintings has been the city of Rome. His work combines the factual with the fantastical and is painted in a classic style with strong attention to detail.
  2. During his seven years abroad he was involved in a variety of group shows in the Italian capital as well as staging his first solo exhibition Roman Reflections in 2005. He returned to Ireland in 2007 where he worked from studios in Wexford, Dublin and Drogheda. In early 2008 he held an exhibition entitled Affinita in Dublin's Italian Institute of Culture followed later that year with Roma Antica in the Pontifical Irish College, Rome.
  3. His most recent exhibition Carnevale took place in early 2010 in Highgate Gallery, London, after which he returned to live in Rome. He now paints from a balcony near St Peter's. His next exhibition will take place in Rome in spring 2011.
