“As I travel the world, I find strengths and dreams in the everyday lives of people around me. I bring you those stories through my paintings."

"My love for people is rooted in the Nebraska prairie where I was born in 1947. Everyone I knew had come from somewhere else and was either successful or broken by his own hand. The sense of controlling personal destiny made formal education and belonging to American society difficult for me. Fortunately, my curiosity and imagination were supported by the American Broadcasting Company, WLS-TV, the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Magazine. I could pursue my art in the great tradition of the artists I loved: Honore Daumier, the Immortal Eight of Philadelphia and countless others. My work from that period is a fascinating historical record, culminating with the Watergate Hearings in Washington, D.C."
