About Artist Bridie Smyth
  1. Bridie has been firmly established as a talented Armagh artist, with particular flair for still-life and landscape painting. However, her work spans a range of subjects and media from ink drawing to figurative painting, mixed media and pastels.
  2. Furthermore, she completed a FETAC award in MIFET. Afterwards, she attended Newry Institute and studied Foundation level Art & Design and then went on to complete her HNC in Fine Art which was awarded by Huddersfield University. Bridie has held several successful solo exhibitions, has exhibited through Ireland and carried out a number of private and public commissions.
  3. Artist's Statement
Growing up in the countryside has instilled a love of nature in me, which I have tried to incorporate into my artwork. In each of my landscapes I have tried to capture the beauty of nature, from the simple sunset to the changing colours of autumn. In many of my pieces I have also attempted to create a secret hideaway, detached from the chores of everyday life, where one can relax and feel in harmony with nature.
