New Wall Layout

After many long hours of testing and retesting, a revised version of our Wall has been launched.

This new layout allows for 12 artists to be previewed on each of 11 different Walls. Each artist will have 4 thumbnail images on display together with the direct link to their own gallery page(s) on New Irish Art.

This new layout is complete with a preload function that allows for easy access across all the Walls. It is the most efficient way for visitors to get a view of what's inside the New Irish art website.

Initially, we laid out the Walls section of the website in a roughly alphabetic way. This is changing so that the most recent additions will appear on the first and subsequent pages. Artists showing on the final Wall will therefore be the next ones due to go into Archive status.

As always, this new layout has been tested here by the team but is not fixed in stone. We need to revise the chronological layout and expect to have minor corrections over the next while.

External Links (Promotion Tool)

A while back, we introduced the 'Add This' toolbar on the website. This is a tool that allows visitors to let people they know about the website. When used previously, there was not very much take-up by our visitors. We think that it is a good tool and that it is worth introducing again, at least for a trial period.

We would encourage you to try it out over the next few weeks and help us to evaluate its effectiveness on the site, we'll report on activity in our next Artist Bulletin.

There is an icon for FaceBook, Twitter, Stumbled Upon, Email and plus (+) a host of other networking websites. As the population of these websites has grown so dramatically in the recent years, there is significant uptake on references put in there.

If you already have membership to any of these websites, it is an excellent idea to activate the alert system these tools enable. Even if you only use the Emailer to notify friends and acquaintances about your gallery, it is still a useful way for you to promote your New Irish Art gallery.

All recommendations sent via these links will benefit you and all of the other artists showing on the New Irish art site.

Each page on New Irish Art is now equipped with this toolbar, that means that you can use it over and over to draw attention to that particular page.

We have even included one here which should only be used to let other artists know about the Artist Bulletin. Go to your own gallery page(s) and start promoting your online presence.

Your Support

The New Irish Art website provides a simple and effective way for you to reach the largest possible audience to expose your artwork. It is a successful operation as it provides visitors with dynamic content that is attractively displayed.

Since our beginning in 2000, many new changes have popped up. All over the Internet, there are tricks and twists that promise a better way of getting 'out there'. We have researched and analysed many new ways of doing our job as and when they arise.

Sometimes we find an exciting tool or application only to discover that there are limitations that preclude it from being made available to all of the community.

Throughout the existence on NewIrishArt.com many changes have been implemented, many more have been discarded. Testing seems to make up a lot of the activity, thanks to Daniel for carrying out most of that.

Whatever the change, the website has always managed to step forward, to increase both the number of artists showing and the number of visitors enjoying their stay on the site. The Web is a tough and highly competitive place and we are aware that the service we provide depends completely on the support of the artists and the loyalty of our returning visitors.

Working together is the key to maintaining our lead and we are happy to continue as long as we have that incredible support. Whether its by visiting, writing testimonials or by using word of mouth to spread the news about our work (and your work), all of you share the success of the New Irish Art website.

The success of each artist on the site is likewise trickled down and across to others showing on the open platform. When you get the time, do whatever you can to continue promoting the New Irish art site, use the tools we have brought on board and tell us what you would like to see in future versions of the site.

Now, get clicking to Work in Progress to see the work that's coming in this month, to Home for the highlights and exhibition news, to The Walls to test that new layout (Feedback please) and definitely try out those external links on the top right of each screen (you own gallery is a great place to start).

Happy Days,

Tom
