About Artist Carl Taylor
  1. Carl Taylor is a landscape painter from Derry. His works are inspired by the wild and rugged beauty of Ireland, in particular the mountains, coastline and sea around Donegal and uses bold vibrant colours to convey this.
  2. He is especially interested in rich texture in his paintings, which he achieves by applying paints with all sorts of tools including brushes, knives and sticks.
  3. Currently, he is experimenting with mixed media incorporating all sorts of materials into some of his works including sand, gravel, turf, texture gels, fillers and plaster to build up the image before painting This has provided some of his paintings with an interesting sculptural quality.
  4. Carl is, at present, studying for an BA Degree in Fine and Applied Art and will commence his final year in September 2011.
