About Artist Dave Gavin
  1. I am a solely self taught abstract artist living in Mountnugent, Co Cavan. I like to create colourful art that catches the eye!
  2. Colour can be subjective and I like the reds that can draw the eye, stimulate and that gives a punch. Yellows for a positive mood and that can brighten up a room. Purples that can give a nice mood to a space.
  3. My pieces have intense vibrant colouring ! I prefer the palette knife and hand work to the paintbrush, As i like to show lots of texture to my art as this gives emotion and depth of field. Unless i have something specific in mind to create, I will generally start a piece and see where it will take me! I like to experiment and create different styles, Sometimes back to back. Artists that I admire? Paul Klee, Peter Howson ! I like exploring the mind and portraying it on the canvas. Art deserves a reaction.....Emotion?.. ...I try!
