About Artist Dawn Cruttenden
  1. Dawn Cruttenden was born in Northern Ireland, 1972. She graduated from art college in Belfast and from Newcastle upon Tyne before moving into advertising as a copywriter in London. Her works are owned from Ireland to Australia.
  2. Dawn's work is figurative and aims to capture moments one would want to hold that are familiar and emotive to the viewer. Her latest work features huge skies and seascapes - particularly those of the Antrim coast where she spent a lot of her childhood. Many of these pieces have the aim of making the viewer feel a sense of air and space and tries to convey the beautiful emptiness of the coastline which mentally restores the visitor with a sense of calm and of being only human.
  3. Cruttenden is influenced by vintage childrens book illustration, historic portraits, and can often be found hanging round the national portrait gallery in London seeking inspiration. Contemporary work she loves include the work of David McDowell and Stuart McAlpine Miller.
