About Artist Eileen Healy
  1. Eileen Healy completed a 4 year diploma in painting at the Crawford College of Art in 1988, when she was also awarded the Student of The Year award.
  2. The following year she was artist in residence at the Lavitte Gallery, Cork after which she became a studio member of The Cork Artists Collective.
  3. During her time at CAC Eileen began organising weekly life drawing sessions for professional artists in Cork City which she ran for 5 years.
  4. Eileen has shown both in solo and group shows including the Arnotts portrait award exhibiton (Dublin), RHA open submission (Dublin) both selected and invited, Iontas Small Works (Sligo) and EVA (Limerick) where she was artist in residence during the show. Also Crawford Art Gallery, UCC, Triskel Arts Centre and several shows abroad..Brittany, Berlin, Latvia and New York.
  5. In 2007 she was commissioned to do a portrait of Cork playwrite and novelist Conal Creedon for the Crawford Gallery series of Irish writers by Irish artists.The image was used for the cover of his most recent publication, 2nd City Trilogy which was launched both in Japan and New York.
  6. She has taken part in many residencies in Ireland including Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Burren Art College, Cillriallig and Serius Art Centre. She was invited back to Cillriallig in 2009 on the strength of her show at the McBride Gallery, Killarney in 2008. In 2010 she did a residency at the highly aclaimed Art Students League, New York where she created a new body of work which showcased in an exhibition at Vytlacil Campus in upstate New York.
  7. In 2000 Eileen began teaching life drawing adult ed classes and summerschool at the Crawford College of Art. She has also conducted workshops in collaborative painting and drawing and runs regular weekend life drawing workshops through Crawford College of Art.
  8. Eileen has been a studio member of Backwater Studios for the past 10 years where she has served as secretary on the board of Directors.
