About Francis Kennedy


Born in Athenry, County Galway in 1955, Fran worked as an art teacher until 1998,
when he took the decision to concentrate on his own painting. He works from a small
studio at his home and though capable of a variety of styles, most of his current
work is on canvas, using acrylics paints, featuring layered, stylized figures with
an emphasis on music and fantasy figures.

He also produces topical cartoons and his work has been published in various
publications including the Galway Independent, Phoenix, The Yellow Press,
The Irish Mirror, Galway Now, Ireland’s Own, Organic Matters,
Irish Connections (U.S.A.) and the RTE Guide.
