Biography

Growing up near the village of Caledon in Co. Tyrone, Fiona has always held a love of drawing and painting. In 2001 she graduated from the University of Ulster with a BA (Hons) Degree in Consumer Studies where she incorporated her creative ideas in the areas of marketing and design. In 2005 she qualified as a Primary School teacher and currently teaches in Co. Dublin.

For several years she lived in, and travelled throughout, a variety of countries. The wealth and range of scenery she encountered inspired her to transfer this colour onto a canvas.

While Fiona is self-taught, she has been influenced by Cezanne's abstraction of observed nature, Van Gogh's vivid colours and flowing movements and Monet's use of light and subject matter.

Fiona works mainly in acrylics and focuses on producing images that evoke atmosphere and depth. She has a great love of nature, which she interprets through her use of strong, rich and vibrant tones.
