About Artist Christine Simpson

I am a Waterford based Artist, Lecturer in Photography and a Curator. My artwork explores the photographic potential of creating surreal melded images from several different shots, onto one seamlessly constructed print. Objects, generally discarded or from the natural world, are located within the Irish landscape. The landscape, providing a rich, unkempt, decaying and dramatic backdrop for things often unnoticed or regarded as obsolete.
All of my work is printed on water colour paper using giclee printing techniques. I have exhibited in Ireland, Spain, New York (United Nations headquarters) and the UK and I am a recipient of the Waterford Crystal Arts Award. I am also a member of the Special Photographer's Company, London.
My work is in many private collections: Dermot Desmond, WIT, Getty Images to name a few. I regularly undertake commissions for art pieces and commercial photographic illustrations. Several of my images have been used on CD covers and published in books.
