| About John Nolan | ||||
|
John Nolan was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1958. His exuberant modern figurative style combines bold outlines with bright exotic colours-a true celebration of colour. His artistic influences are drawn from a plethora of sources ranging from the English colourists, Howard Hodgkins and Albert Irvin to Van Gogh and Modigliani; Giorgio Morandi is the influence in the area of composition. John?s father, who was an artist also, was a huge influence, and source of inspiration and encouragement. John has also been hugely inspired by primitive cave paintings because, he claims 'they speak a complex message across the centuries that we can relate to today-so there is no denying the universal power of shape and colour'. His most recent work concentrates on stylised interpretative portraits and modern figurative landscapes, as well as pure abstracts'. John's studio is based in Dublin. |
