About Artist Kathleen Gormley

Born in Dublin, I spent most of my working life in Brussels, returning to Ireland (Birr) in 2002 when I began to paint full time. Since childhood I have drawn and painted people and I continue to do so, with a particular focus on world cultures. I am constantly searching for harmony and balance in my work.
In 2010 I had the honor of having one of my paintings selected to feature on the cover of Jerome Kiely's delightful book of poetry 'The Moon Canoe'. I am currently working on a series of commissioned artworks on celtic folklore featuring figures such as Granuaile (as seen here), Queen Maebh etc.
I have been running Birr Art Group since Jan 2010.
