About Artist Patricia Kavanagh
Patricia Kavanagh is a landscape artist, painting nature in her own naturalistic style using oils as her preferred medium.
  1. Growing up on the shores of Galway Bay near Blackrock in Salthill she was inspired to paint from a very early age. She remembers with fondness the first time her father indicated the Twelve Bens to her during a family outing when she was barely knee high. Little did he realise that he had just given her a wonderful gift; an awareness of nature and an appreciation of its beauty. Patricia continues to draw inspiration for her paintings from the ever-changing light on Galway bay, the Burren hills beyond and the dramatic landscapes of County Clare and her beloved Connemara.
  2. Patricia continued painting whenever possible whilst raising her six children and also being involved in the family business. Her love of painting provided her with the necessary peace and time-out so vital in the life of a busy mother. As a self taught artist she was constantly observing the genius and works of others which prompted her to study for a BA in Art & Design.
  3. Encouraged by her husband and family Patricia converted old stables at her home to accommodate her studio where she now enjoys painting full time. Her paintings are a collection of the subjects and places she loves; in particular the west of Ireland where she often paints 'en plein air' to capture the true light.
  4. Patricia has painted numerous commissions and welcomes orders for these.
  5. Her paintings have been acquired by clients in UK, USA and throughout Ireland.
