About Artist Petra Rau

Born in Germany in a place called Schweinfurt in 1961. I first trained and worked as a layout artist in an advertising agency after finishing school. But my real ambition always was Art. After moving to Ireland with my partner in 1983, I went first to the Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design were I completed the Foundation course in 1985. Then I went on to the NCAD in Dublin where I finished my BA (Fine Art) with honours in 1989.
From then on I traveled around Europe, living in Italy, Spain and Portugal and coming back to Ireland in 2000 for 5 years. Having different exhibitions in all the places, solo and group. Since 2005 I'm back in Germany. Still working away on my Art.
My work is in collections in the USA and Europe.

I do not like working with oil paint so I mix my own paints, except for the watercolours, where I like Schminke. I also love taking photographs.
