About Artist Phil Daly
  1. Phil graduated from GMIT in 2005 with a degree in Fine Art (painting). I have mainly exhibited my work in Drogheda and work mainly in oils and powder (industrial powder paint). My work can be on canvas or mounted on board. The focus of the paintings is on the process of the work and how I get to the finished piece. Strong colours will always feature as I draw some inspiration from such artists as Pollock & Kandinsky.
  2. I am working as a community artist, teaching art to people with special needs and after school art projects with local primary and secondary schools.
  3. 'The surface of a painting is flat, but to introduce depth into the visual aspect of that flat surface is an act of delusion.' Sam Francis
  4. The schematic working method is every bit part of the painting as the image itself, allowing the paint to behave naturally and intervening when necessary.

  3. Ireland's favourite painting might still be undiscovered, we salute the 10 shortlisted artists and invite our visitors to search out the next Irish Masterpiece right here, on New Irish Art.
