Dawn Cruttenden was born in Northern Ireland, 1972. She graduated from art college in Belfast and from the School of Art in Newcastle upon Tyne before moving into advertising as a copywriter in London.
Dawn is now a full time artist splitting time between London and Donegal. In 2015, a series of her drawings was bought by musician Stevie Nicks. These are now installed in LA. The prints of these pieces decorate the children's cancer ward of The Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. In 2016 she became the first woman to be commissioned as an artist by The Savoy hotel in London where three of her pieces are now permanently installed to celebrate the legend of opera singer Dame Nellie Melba.
Formerly a watercolour artist, Dawn now works mainly in graphite and gold leaf to themes of fairytale and legend. She also teaches evening classes in drawing in North London where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
