Since her arrival here she has been painting and teaching art. First she taught at the Paint Box in Galway for two years. Then she opened her own art school in Inverin, County Galway. She has been teaching all age groups for 12 years. She has also had several exhibitions of her paintings, at the Connemara Coast Hotel in 2006, The Galway Museum in 2008, a permanent installation of paintings in An Cruiscin Lan Hotel for the last two years and various other small shows in local pubs and establishments. Elaine's painting style is representational. Her work is inspired by local landscape scenes, animals and she also does commissions and portraits of local people. Oil paint is her favorite medium because of the earthy tones and thick, impasted textures possible with oils.
