Myles Murphy Art (Download The Catalogue)

My name is Myles Murphy. I was born and reared in Dublin and emigrated to Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A. in 1987.

Although I have been making art all my life, currently, after a 50 year career in engineering, in retirement, it is my primary focus. There is agony as well as occasional ecstasy. I seem to discard more than I produce! In Dublin, my art instruction was always informal, attending NCAD for clay modeling, pottery throwing with Peter Brennan, life drawing with George Collie, RHA, and at IADT Dun Laoghaire. I was also a member of the now defunct High Loft Painting Group, Booterstown, exhibiting there frequently. I also had a virtual sellout in a two person show with Lucy Mullee at the Davis Gallery, Capel Street.

Now, in retirement, I am striving to establish myself as an artist, but I still struggle to find that elusive unique identity that all artists strive for. At this point in my life it is not about sales, but a personal revelation through art. I have a blog http://mylesmurphy.blogspot.com/

For some time, it has not received my attention, but I am trying to update it now. This blog may help me along my journey, through feedback.
