Therese Whelan Tierney Art (Download The Catalogue)

Born in Dublin 1959 and now living in Ballyleague Co Roscommon, from a young age I have always had a passion for art, particularly painting, when my children grew up I had the opportunity to return to education were I graduated from BCFE college with a Higher National Diploma in graphic art and design in 2006, since then I have striven to develop and hone my skills as a painter, I work in oils or acrylics, everyday scenes peak my interest and I enjoy figurative work, sometimes I use family and friends as inspiration, I might begin with taking photographs and doing some preliminary sketches, when ready I'll begin painting starting with light glazes building up until I see the subject emerging, at this stage of the process I allow myself a lot more freedom of expression.
